Getting Here

The Robert Frost Mountain Cabins are situated in the heart of the Green Mountain National Forest just off the Middlebury Gap. The beauty of our location is that while each cabin feels secluded, we are only a short jaunt from the charming towns of Middlebury, Bristol and Brandon and within easy driving distance of the more “metropolitan” towns of Burlington and Rutland.

Important Note for Our Guests

The first and foremost thing you need to know about getting here is that you MUST enable wi-fi calling on your phone before you lose signal. There are a couple places that folks can get cell phone reception, but it’s much easier to sign in to a wi-fi network than it is to play Marco-Polo with cell phone towers while in the mountains.

Driving Directions

Just as our mountain’s namesake once wrote, the RFMCabins are located on the road less traveled. Our dirt driveway is approximately half a mile long - which, conveniently, is just long enough to leave your cares behind.

From Middlebury

Follow Route 7 South to Route 125 in East Middlebury where you will turn left onto E. Main Street and continue for 4.3 miles. After crossing the town line, you’ll see the Ripton Country Store on the right and Lincoln Road to the left - turn onto Lincoln Road and follow it for 3.7 miles (your GPS may try to guide you down Dugway Road, but we recommend you just go straight). After the road transitions to dirt you will come to a stop sign, turn left onto North Branch Road and in 1 mile you’ll see the Robert Frost Mountain Cabins sign on the left at 2430 North Branch Road.

From Burlington Airport

When you leave the airport, drive south on Airport Drive/Kennedy Drive for 1.2 miles. At the second light, turn left onto Route 116 / Hinesburg Road and follow it for 27.7 miles until you come to a four way intersection. Turn left at the intersection to continue on Route 116 for another 11.5 miles to East Middlebury. At the stop sign, turn left onto E. Main Street / Route 125 East and drive for 3.7 miles to Ripton.

From New York City and Albany

From North bound I-87 take Exit 20 onto Route 149 toward Fort Ann/Whitehall. After 11.7 miles on Route 149, turn left onto US-4 where you will stay for 36 miles to Rutland. At the US-4 / Route 7 intersection, turn left and continue for roughly 30 miles. At East Main Street in East Middlebury, turn right and follow signs for Route 125 for 4.3 miles.

From Boston

From I-93 North, merge onto I-89 North until you reach Exit 3 toward Bethel. Next to the big fish murals, you’ll turn left to stay on Route 107 West for 10 miles. Turn right onto Route 100 in Gaysville and in roughly 1 mile, after crossing the White River, you’ll turn left to stay on Route 100 North to Rochester. Stay on Route 100 for 11.7 miles until you reach Hancock where you will turn left onto Route 125. From Hancock, drive 11.9 miles into Ripton where you will see the Ripton Country Store on the left and Lincoln Road to the right - turn right onto Lincoln Road and follow it for 3.7 miles (your GPS may try to guide you down Dugway Road, but we recommend you just go straight).
