Amenities

Robert Frost Mountain Cabins are fully furnished and only require you bring your personal items, food and smiles to create a great experience. We believe that anticipating our guests’ needs and attending to the little details is what sets us apart and turns the otherwise ordinary into truly memorable.

With the same footprint and general layout, our cabins have all the same amenities with some variations to let us offer vacation lodging spaces that are family friendly, pet friendly and wheelchair accessible. If you have specific needs or special requests, please contact us to explore what options we can enable.

Bedrooms

Every cabin includes one (1) queen bedroom and a bedroom with two (2) twins that, with package upgrade, can be converted into a king-size bed.

The source of mattress toppers and pillows are frequently inquired about, and our quality bedding is seasonally adjusted to enable optimal guest comfort.

Each bedroom also includes at least one nightstand, a dresser and an armoire containing an extra laundry bag, additional blankets, an iron and ironing board, a box fan and a portable heater. Pack’n’Play cribs are also available upon request.

A neatly arranged bathroom featuring a wooden vanity, a shower/tub combo, and a vase of yellow flowers.

Bathroom

With the exception of Cabin 5, each cabin features a spacious full bathroom with a bath-and-shower combination, a standard-height toilet, and a well-lit vanity.

Cabin 5 offers an adapted, wheelchair-accessible bathroom with a roll-up sink, a zero-threshold roll-in shower, and multiple permanently installed grab bars.

Bathrooms come fully stocked with unlimited fluffy towels, complimentary body wash, shampoo and conditioner, hair dryer, sewing kit, first-aid kit, laundry bag, non-slip bath mat, and two (2) removable grab bars.

A screened porch features a table with a flower vase and four chairs surrounded by trees.

Porch & Cabin Exterior

Attached to the rear of each cabin is a spacious 150-square-foot screened-in porch furnished with patio table, chairs, ashtray* and tasteful string lighting.

Beyond the porch door, each cabin has a park-style barbecue grill with necessary grilling tools and, should you need it, charcoal and lighter fluid are available for purchase at the Loft.

Due to their seclusion, Cabins 6 & 7 are outfitted with private campfire pits and adjacent hose at the rear of the buildings. Complimentary firewood is provided and can be found on the driveway between the two cabins. Please review the Fire and Open Flames Policies prior to use to avoid the unnecessary risk of wildfire.

Parking & Entrance

Complimentary parking is located immediately in front of each cabin with gravel walkways to the front door. Should you require EV charging, two Level 2 chargers are located across from Cabin 5 and are available 24/7 for guest use at cost per kWh.

Adjacent to the front door, each cabin has a combination boot jack/brush/scraper, a hand broom, several locally shorn walking sticks and, seasonally, a snow shovel and car snow-brush and ice scraper. Immediately inside the front door, you will find shoe mats and pocket-sized flashlights for your use.

When there is snow, the roads, walkways and unoccupied parking spots are plowed and gritted. Guests should note, however, that icy conditions may persist even with the roads treated, so we highly recommend your vehicle be fitted with snow tires and/or have 4WD before you attempt to climb up to us on Robert Frost Mountain.

Base Utilities

All buildings on the property are equipped with remote-operated, thermostat-controlled heat pump AC unit, individual water heater, ample charging ports and access to our dedicated business class Wi-Fi network.

All buildings are also connected to our backup generators in case of power failure and, in most scenarios, outages will be transparent to guests.

PROPERTY AMENITIES

Surrounded by the Green Mountain National Forest, the RFM Cabins property offers guests a plethora of experiences both inside and out.

A spacious wooden dining area with a large table, chairs, and recreational space in a rustic cabin setting.

The Loft

“The Loft” is a series of common rooms located at our main workshop. On the ground floor, you’ll find our laundry facilities, a public bathroom, our gift shop, community coffee bar, self-serve supply cabinet and hot tub essentials (extra cushy robes and large beach towels). The second floor includes a foosball table, air hockey table, multiple board games and puzzles, a communal TV space with DVDs, a well-stocked Little Library bookcase as well as a variety of maps, guide books and brochures for tourist sites about the area.

A hot tub with bubbles overlooks a snowy landscape and distant mountains, with colorful chairs and drinks nearby.

Patio & Hot Tub

Outside the main entrance to The Loft and overlooking the property’s best panoramic mountain view is a covered patio with our most popular recreation equipment: a six (6) person hot tub and seasonal offerings like snowshoes, sleds or a variety of warm-weather yard games. The hot tub is available 24/7 to all guests, and the seasonal gear is freely provided as-is for voluntary use. A propane grill is also available on this patio for larger gatherings.

The Meadow

Adjacent to The Loft, our Meadow features numerous seasonal highlights: in the summer, there are numerous flower gardens, pick-your-own blueberry and blackberry bushes, a very active frog pond, and serene hammocks; in the fall, it has pick-your-own grapes and breathtaking views of the autumn foliage; and in our snowy months, the sledding hill is very popular as are the open space and trails for nordic skiing and snowshoeing.

Campfire Pit

Across all of the seasons, however, the communal campfire pit is hands down the guest favorite feature the Meadow offers. Firewood and s’mores kits are provided at no extra cost and our staff is happy to assist in building the fire, as needed.

Trillium Trail

Named in honor of the endangered and beloved flower, the Trillium Trail is a ¾-mile loop through the property. Beginning along the driveway, guests pass through the woods behind the cabins to emerge at the north end of the meadow amid the copious blackberry bushes that give Cabin 3 it’s very apt name. The trail continues along the western edge of the meadow before curving past the fire pit to return guests at The Loft. The beauty of this trail is that, regardless of your outdoor prowess, it is reasonable for most ability levels and provides a refreshing foray into fresh air and serenity.

Pick Your Own Berries

While we don’t want to discourage you from checking out the great farm experiences to be had around Addison County, we are happy to share the fruitful bounty RFMCabins grows with our guests. Be it the summer’s high bush blueberries or the fall’s prodigious blackberries or grapes, there is nothing quite so sweet as a fresh picked treat you got for yourself.

Trail Network

In the woods surrounding the cabins, trails abound with access to the catamount ski trails and the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers (“VAST”) snowmobile network. For guests looking for a curated loop through the woods, the Trillium Trail is a 3/4 mile loop that connects the driveway above Cabin 7 with the Meadow by the sledding hill. Keep an eye out for the ephemeral flowers from which it takes its name as they take seven years of growth and development to form a single bloom.
